We use a lot of tools at Adept Creative. Below is a list of some of my favorite free digital marketing tools.
Check back often as I will continue to update this list.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics is the gold standard of web analytics. Signing up is easy and best of all its free.
Google Analytics lets you track users as they interact with your website or other digital properties.
Google Marketing Toolbox
Culture and Trends, Competitive Analysis, Consumer Insights, Diagnostic Tools and Industry Benchmarks, Shopping Insights, Find My Audience, Grow my Store, Google Trends, Market Finder, Create with Google, Advance your Measurement, and more
Hemingway Editor
Hemingway Editor is a free in-browser app that makes your writing bold and clear. It’s kind of like spellchecker, but for style. It makes sure that your reader will focus on your message, not your prose.
Almost any bit of writing could use some cutting. Less is usually more.
The Hemingway Editor will highlight where your writing is too dense. Try removing needless words or splitting the sentence into two. Hemingway also judges the “grade level” of your text using the Automated Readability Index. Writing scores at a 15th-grade level is not better than writing at an 8th-grade level. In fact, a high-grade level often means it is confusing and tedious for any reader. Try removing some jargon. Unless you are writing a textbook, you don’t want to sound like a textbook.
Copyscape
Copyscape provides a free plagiarism checking tool. It allows you to check and see if any content is similar to previously published content.
Google PageSpeed Insights
PageSpeed Insights is a much improved tool that analyzes both your mobile and desktop page speed. Just type in your URL and PageSpeed Insights analyzes the content of a web page and generates suggestions to make the page faster. PSI provides both lab and field data about a page. Lab data is useful for debugging performance issues, as it is collected in a controlled environment. Field data is useful for capturing true, real-world user experience but has a more limited set of metrics.
The audits are separated into three sections:
Opportunities: provide suggestions how to improve the page’s performance metrics. Each suggestion in this section estimates how much faster the page will load if the improvement is implemented.
Diagnostics: provide additional information about how a page adheres to best practices for web development.
Passed audits: indicates the audits that have been passed by the page
GTmetrix
GTmetrix is an online tool that allows you to analyze any URL and get a free page speed report.
It lets you know how long your page takes to load, total page size and number of requests. After you run the report GTmetrix will give you a list of recommendations to help improve your page speed. You can also compare your page’s performance to the average of all sites analyzed by GTmetrix.
