What is the number of Youtube users?

Youtube boasts more than 2 billion monthly logged-in users. This is not as many users as Facebook’s 2.74 Billion monthly active users.

Keep in mind, however, that you can still watch YouTube content and not have to create an account. Therefore, the “logged-in monthly viewers” number is likely to underestimate the actual number of people who are viewing YouTube content each month.

In March 2020, daily views of videos with the title “home office” increased by 210%. Daily uploads of videos with the title “at home” increased 700% during the same time period. Video titles that contain “quarantine” or “routine”, saw 10.5 millions views in March.

This is not surprising considering that live events were canceled for most of the year. In the first six months 2020, daily Youtube livestreams increased by 45 percent.

53% of livestream viewers feel that watching livestreams makes them feel more connected to the world around them. 56% say that watching livestreams is as enjoyable as attending an event in person.

YouTube is used by 50.9% B2B decision-makers to research purchase options. YouTube is the most popular social media platform used for this purpose, surpassing Facebook (48.5%) or LinkedIn (33%).

Year over year, the number of YouTube channels earning $10,000 USD or more grew 50%. In the same time, the number channels that earn $100,000 USD or more per year grew by 40%.

This income doesn’t come only from ad revenue. It could also include other forms of YouTube monetization. It’s difficult to know if this is good news or bad for all YouTube content creators.
